The last few years have seen growing awareness around the critical role science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education plays in a nation’s competitiveness and economic prosperity.
At SunEdison, we’re committed to building such prosperity through the cultivation of a strong, educated workforce. That’s why several years ago we began a scholarship program that engages the next generation of students interested in science and technology.
The SunEdison Scholars Program offers a one-time $3,000 college scholarship to high school seniors from communities where the company has a project in operation. In addition, every year we award one very special student a four-year $5,000 scholarship.
Students must display strong potential for a successful post-secondary experience. They should also have interest in pursuing studies in environmental sciences, general sciences, or engineering.
The SunEdison Scholars Program has already awarded $384,000 in scholarship money to 94 students in seven states.
Applications are currently underway for 2016. Students have from now until February 15 2016 to apply. Winners are selected based on academic record and demonstrated leadership skills, participation in school and community activities, work experience, and a statement of educational and career goals.
